The Nodes Are Shifting, What Aquarius and Leo Mean for the Next 18 Months
Something significant shifted on Monday 27 July, 2026. The lunar nodes moved signs for the first time in 18 months, leaving Pisces and Virgo behind and moving into Aquarius and Leo. This is a collective shift, one that affects all of us, and it will shape the themes, lessons and evolution we move through together until early 2028.
If you've been feeling like something is changing, like a chapter is closing and something new is quietly beginning, you're not imagining it. The nodes just confirmed it.
What are the lunar nodes?
The lunar nodes are not planets. They are calculated points in the sky where the Moon's orbit crosses the Earth's path around the Sun, and they always sit directly opposite each other. In astrology they represent soul purpose, karmic evolution and the collective lessons we are here to learn and integrate.
The North Node points toward where we are collectively growing and evolving, the new territory we are being asked to move into. The South Node points toward what we are releasing, the familiar patterns and ways of being that have served their purpose but are ready to be left behind.
When the nodes shift signs, the collective conversation shifts with them. New themes emerge, old ones begin to resolve, and we are all asked to orient ourselves in a new direction.
Closing the Pisces and Virgo chapter
For the last 18 months the North Node has been in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo. This axis has been asking us collectively to release the need for perfection, to loosen our grip on control and to learn to trust, in ourselves, in the process and in something greater than what we can see and measure.
Virgo's shadow is the endless refinement, the feeling that nothing is quite ready, quite good enough, quite polished enough to share. Pisces invited us to surrender that, to trust our intuition and to move forward even when the path wasn't perfectly clear.
If the last 18 months brought lessons in letting go, in trusting without evidence, in releasing control over outcomes, that was the nodes doing their work. That chapter is now complete. What you learned in that time travels with you into what comes next.
Welcome to Aquarius and Leo
The North Node now moves into Aquarius and the South Node into Leo. These are the themes we are collectively growing into and releasing over the next 18 months.
The North Node in Aquarius is the collective invitation to step into community, collaboration and authentic self-expression for the greater good. Aquarius is the sign of the unconventional, the original thinker, the one who sees the world differently and isn't afraid to say so. The growth edge here is moving beyond the individual and contributing to something larger, finding your people, building your community and recognising that your unique perspective is needed by the collective.
The South Node in Leo carries the release. Leo at its shadow is the need for external validation, performing for applause, waiting to be seen and recognised before feeling worthy. Over the next 18 months we are collectively releasing the need for approval and learning to show up authentically not for the recognition but because it is who we are and what we are here to do.
Together this axis is asking us to be fully, authentically ourselves, not for the audience but for the community. To stop performing and start contributing. To be visible not because we need to be seen but because what we carry is genuinely needed.
A note on eclipse season
The Aquarius and Leo nodal axis activates the upcoming eclipse season, with the first eclipse arriving on the next New Moon. Eclipses on a nodal axis accelerate the themes and lessons of that axis, bringing rapid change, unexpected shifts and significant turning points.
