I'd spent years being the capable one, the organised one, the one who kept things moving and sensed more than she said. I was creative and thoughtful and privately terrified of being seen. I avoided conflict so consistently that I eventually lost track of what I actually wanted, because I'd been so busy making sure everyone else was okay.
I wasn't stuck because I lacked talent or drive. I was stuck because I was following a map that was never drawn for me.
